License Management
The KMD Plassdata Licence is aligned with your Maintenance and Support subscription periods, and it needs to be refreshed with each Maintenance and Support contract renewal payment in order to be able to update the system with the latest features and bugfixes.
Updated licences are sent to your contract manager who needs to forward the licence details to an administrator to have the servers and/or single-user installations updated.
The license is delivered as a [customername].licenses
or kmdplassdata.licenses
file and must be copied to the folder specified in your configuration, see configuration and look for dataPath:LicenseFolderSubPath
.
Default is [INSTALL-PATH]\api\data\licensefiles, which again often maps to C:\InetPub\wwwroot\dvi6\api\data\licensefiles
in the real server.
If multiple *.licenses
files are present in the LicenseFolderSubPath, the file named kmdplassdata.licenses
(if any) is preferred, and if this file is not present, the newest *.licenses
file is used. If multiple files have the same newest time stamp, the one with the shortest name is used.
The actual file name and path being consumed is dumped to the event-log
The *.licenses
file is a mostly human-readable but signed XML file, so you will always be able to open the file in a text-editor and check the content before you apply it.
You should guard your licenses file as anyone in possession of the file will be able to install and execute the KMD PlassData system in your name.
At a later stage, you may be able to request hardware-bound versions of the file to ensure that it will only work in connection with your specific servers.
